Imagine a world where plastic waste isn’t a problem but a solution—where discarded materials transform into building blocks for a sustainable future. At Concept Loop, we’re not just imagining this world; we’re creating it. Through innovation, partnerships, and scalable impact, we’re redefining waste as a resource, paving the way—literally—for a low-carbon, sustainable tomorrow.
Our innovative approach addresses critical environmental challenges by diverting substantial volumes of end-of-life plastic waste from oceans and landfills, while offering businesses a low-carbon, cost-effective alternative with properties comparable to traditional materials.
Our pioneering solutions have garnered the trust of leading industry partners, including Shell, EBM, and PepsiCo, enabling the deployment of over 800,000 items across Pakistan within the past year. Supported by esteemed global institutions such as Karandaaz (funded by UKAID and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation) and Accelerate Prosperity (Aga Khan Development Network), Concept Loop has received international recognition through initiatives like Carbon13, the Low Carbon Earth Accelerator, and the VerdExim Sustainability Awards.
With endorsements from prestigious organizations, including the Pakistan Green Building Council and the Institute of Architects Pakistan, our products empower companies to achieve up to an 84% reduction in carbon emissions, exemplifying our commitment to sustainability and scalability in addressing global environmental challenges.
Concept Loop redirects end of life plastic waste by targeting ocean bound plastic, multi-layered packaging and municipal waste, addressing the critical issue of environmental pollution at its source. Our processes not only divert plastics from oceans and landlls but also integrate them into high-quality building materials. EcoGrete™, our innovative plastic aggregate, is developed to work with all concrete products, ensuring that each item produced contributes to a cleaner planet. This approach not only offsets carbon and plastic footprints but also promotes a circular economy, turning waste into resources in a manner that is both ecologically responsible and economically viable.
In terms of impact we have offsetted more than 600,000 KGs of low value plastic waste which is equivalent to more than 456 MILLION wrappers that have no second life and are working with a target of 800,000 KGs for 2024.
Our financing partners include Karandaaz (supported by UKAID & Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation) and Accelerate Prosperity (part of Aga Khan Development Network) which shows their condence in our solution and its scalability. On the global front, we are part of Carbon13, working with Innovate UK, won support from Cambrdige based Bridges For Enterprise, are nalists in the Low Carbon Earth Accelerator and one of the top 3 winners at VerdExim Sustainability Awards in UAE. We represented Pakistan at the Low Carbon Earth Accelerator hosted by UNEP to present our solution to regional VCs and investors in Bangkok.
Our product line includes Pavers, Blocks, Tiles and such materials which are tested and endorsed by organizations including Pakistan Green Building Council, Pakistan Council for Scientic and Industrial Research (PCSIR), Meinhardt International, Shell Pakistan, Institute of Architects Pakistan, PepsiCo among others.
By adopting our products, responsible companies have been reducing their carbon
loads upto 84% compared to business as usual products at almost the same cost and
properties. Below are some of our project case studies.
Concept Loop together with Shell Pakistan have made Pakistan’s rst retail site with recycled plastic waste. The construction of the retail site utilized approximately 6,500 kilograms, or roughly 1.3 million pieces, of end-of-life plastic waste, in plastic infused pavers and concrete blocks using multi layered plastic waste. According to research, a simple plastic bag can take up to 500 years to decompose while a plastic bottle can take around 300 years, leaving behind a threat to nature by being non-biodegradable and toxic.
We are enabling our building construction industry to use hybrid concrete based building materials like pavers, blocks and tiles which offset plastic via “EcoGrete”. All the products have been extensively tested and deployed across Pakistan and are used in the same way as traditional materials. This intervention at Open Door Design Studio used 1000 blocks for construction and offsets more than 2000 kg of plastic waste and a cumulative offset of 6000 kg of Carbon Emissions.
Our company has successfully manufactured and supplied 25,000 square feet of Eco Pavers for the English Biscuit Manufacturers’ facility in Hattar. This strategic initiative has effectively redirected approximately 18 tonnes of low-value plastic from waste streams and has resulted in an estimated reduction of 62 tonnes of CO2 equivalent emissions, contributing to a cleaner
atmosphere.
